Biosensors add ECG measurement to wearables

SILICON LAB Si117x family of optical biometric sensors deliver high heart rate monitoring (HRM) accuracy while minimizing power consumption for all-day monitoring. Devices deliver electrocardiogram (ECG) capabilities for a wide range of wearable fitness and wellness products. Devices combine ultra-low power, high sensitivity and exceptional integration. Sensors consume less than 50µA (sensor and LED combined) while performing continuous HRM. A built-in buffer and accelerometer synchronization capabilities save even more system-level power. Devices provide fast sampling speeds, a high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR >100dB), and the ability to cancel out ambient noise and erroneous data.
